A HUGE THANKS TO OUR
CODE OF CONDUCT - All anglers must have valid fishing license and are responsible to know the Regulations put forth by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G). Anglers must adhere to bag & limit regulations as assigned by ADF&G. Anglers (adults & minors) must hook and play every fish unaided, except for netting. See 'sport fishing' as defined in 2017 Northern Alaska ADF&G regulations; dip netting, set nets, and fish wheels do not qualify. No fish finders allowed.
Contestants are urged to display sportsmanlike conduct at all times; anglers who display unsportsmanlike conduct and/or contestants who interfere with other anglers in any manner will be subject to immediate disqualification. Any angler who participates in or causes foulplay will be disqualified immediately upon report and without further notice. The Interior Alaska Building Association, its Directors, staff and volunteers, reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, including event and meal ticket holders. Refunds will not be made to ticket holders related to or in connection with disqualified entries, contestants, derby participants, and ticket holders who fail to comply with the code of conduct.
All members of the public and the Interior Alaska Building Association, its Board of Directors, derby sponsors and their employees are eligible to participate as contestants in the derby. All persons over the age of 12 YRS must have a derby ticket. Anglers age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
WEIGH IN/MEASUREMENTS - Onsite and Remote Fish Entries must be submitted by the registered angler, and weighed & measured by 4PM on Sunday, July 9th at the weigh-in table at Tanana Lakes Recreational Area Pavilion. Only dead fish will be accepted at weigh-in. Please handle your fish responsibly and practice humane catch and release tactics while you hunt for the biggest fish. Call ADF&G to learn more about responsible fish handling in advance of the Derby.
Official weigh-in and measurements will be taken by a BIG CATCH CLASSIC Committee Member and recorded on an Official Leaderboard. Entry times will be noted; the fish submitted first acts as a tiebreaker. Pictures will be taken of all anglers and their fish. Remote contestants will be asked to provide general vicinity of their catch.
DONATIONS - Last year, anglers donated their catch to the Fairbanks Food Bank in lieu of the "Sportsmen Against Hunger" campaign. This year, donations of canned food are preferred by the Fairbanks Food Bank; a donation box will be available on-site at the Pavilion during all Derby hours. Transfer of Posession forms will still be available to anglers who wish to donate their fish (1 accepted per angler only) and aside from this, all fish are the property of the angler. Please treat your catch with care and enjoy your fish.
PRIZES - Derby Prizes will be announced as they become available from sponsors. All entries and awarding of prizes are subject to review and final determination by the IABA BIG CATCH CLASSIC 2017 COMMITTEE. THE DECISIONS OF THE IABA BIG CATCH CLASSIC 2017 COMMITTEE ARE FINAL IN ANY CONTESTED MATTER.
All prize winners are responsible for taxes and fees associated with prize winnings. Prizes may be subject to withholding based on IRS requirements. Prize winners will receive a receipt and the Interior Alaska Building Association will receive a signed receipt from each prize winner.
PUBLICITY - The Interior Alaska Building Association reserves the right to: photograph all derby entrants, contestants, participants, and ticket holders and reproduce any event photographs for publicity purposes. The Interior Alaska Building Association retains all photo rights.
